One of Arthur's interests was his ancestry. A man of many talents and an enquiring mind he spent much energy in exploring past records, registers, churches, cemeteries and other sources to trace members of the family's previous generations. It is a family legend that he did so to try to prove that the Ough's were decendents of high ranking allies of William the Congueror.. He was a careful man who recorded these efforts in a notebook which he called his Ex Libris. Fortunately his hand writing was neat and clear, reflecting his meticulous nature making it possible to receord the contents of this notebook without having to provide much by way of explanation. The following are pictures of every page in the Ex Libris plus some letters and other material that were found loose in it, but relevant to his enquiries.
Arthur's research of family was a long term project. His Ex libris was started in 1908 and continued certainly until 1944 two years before he died in 1946. It is presented below as is and as an original source for anyone interestd in using it to trace their own connections to the Ough name.
